IGAU to prepare Atlas of various weeds

Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU) will be making atlas of various weeds found in plane areas of Chhattisgarh, officials informed.

Besides, Directorate of Weed Research will develop a mobile app called "Weed Manager", through which farmers will be provided information about weeks in Chhattisgarhi dialect.

Recently, Director of Weed Research Directorate, Jabalpur under Indian Agricultural Research Council, Dr PK Singh and his assistants took decisions in the context during review meeting of All India Weed Management Project conducted in Indira Gandhi Agriculture University.

Review team, during its observation tour, analysed the effects of various experiments done under the project such as zero tillage, techniques for weed control in rabi crops including happy seeder and aqua seed drill etc.

Singh emphasized on presenting the results of these experiments on national-level.

Director of Weed Research Directorate of Indian Agricultural Research Council Dr PK Singh and Scientist Dr Yogita Gharde and Dr Subhash Chandar praised the effects of experiments done under All India Weed Management Project and lauded its visibly effective results. He emphasized on promoting the conclusions of the experiments through Agriculture Science Centres to farmers of the state.

Main Researcher of the Project Dr Shrikant Chitle and assistant scientists Dr Nitish Tiwari and Dr Tapas Choudhary informed that information regarding use of happy seed drill has been already provided to all agricultural science centres and this year it will be demonstrated on a large area.
