Security beefed up ahead of PM’s visit to State

Security had been beefed up in Bhilai and Raipur ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (June 14) to Chhattisgarh.

Special Protection Group (SPG) guards have already taken their positions at the locations where programmes are scheduled to be held and police officials of the State too are busy conducting meetings regarding the security arrangements in the Steel City.

According to official sources, the Prime Minister will reach Swami Vivekananda Airport at Mana at 10.40 a.m. and from there he will proceed for inaugurating Command and Control Centre of Naya Raipur Smart City.

He will later proceed for Bhilai in helicopter at 11.30 a.m. and will reach Helipad at Jayanti Stadium at 12 noon. From there he will proceed for Bhilai Steel Plant and will inspect it.

The Prime Minister will then again proceed for Jayanti stadium to address a public gathering.

During his visit, Modi will dedicate to the nation the new units Universal Rail Mill, Bar and Rod Mill, Blast Furnace-8, Steel Melting Shop-3 under the expansion project worth Rs 18,000 crores of the Bhilai Steel Plant.

Around 55 officials and 5000 personnel of State Police and Central Paramilitary Force have been deployed for the security of the Prime Minister and officials were busy on Tuesday conducting security meetings for the visit of the Prime Minister in Bhilai as well as in State capital.

After participating in the programmes of Bhilai and Raipur, Modi will depart for New Delhi from Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur at 2.20 p.m.
