NIT Patna conquers Mahindra AQ regionals held at IIM Ranchi

The sixth season of India’s ultimate automobile quiz show Mahindra AQ made a pit stop at IIM Ranchi. This year, the institute was chosen to host the city round for teams in and around Ranchi.

The event was divided into a preliminary written round and a stage round. The written round saw a massive participation from 61 teams from IIM Ranchi, XISS, BIT Mesra and NIT Rourkela.

Six teams were selected from to written round to battle it put in the preliminary round, these were one team each from ISM Dhanbad and NIT Patna which qualified from individual written rounds in their respective institutes, one each from NIT Rourkela & BIT Mesra and two teams from IIM Ranchi which made the cut through the written round in IIM Ranchi.

Ambesh Tiwari conducted the quiz on behalf of Mahindra AQ. The stage half of the quiz was a closely fought affair which was spread across 6 rounds of questions that tested not just the Auto quotient of the teams but also their presence of mind with buzzer rounds and options of passing the question to the team of their choice.

The quiz saw a nail biting finish with three teams with scores in 80’s and 90’s with the last question to go. Rohit Kashyap and Sayondeep Sadhu from NIT Patna emerged triumphant after acing the last question and finishing with 115 points. A tie breaker for the second spot saw ISM Dhanbad finish second.

The winners advance to the NDTV Zonal Round and would be competing with other teams from east zone. They would then compete in the national finals with the winners from each zone.
