Police bust bike, car lifters’ gang in H’bagh

Hazaribagh police  busted a gang of bike and car thieves and arrested the alleged gang leader and three members of the gang on Wednesday.

Police have also recovered nine stole motorcycles s, a Toyota Corola car and four mobiles from the the alleged  criminals. Interrogation of the arrested criminals was going on at the time of filing of this report and some more arrests are expected soon.

Sharing this information with newsmen, SP Anoop Birthare said that he had got some information regarding the gang and its modus operandi. He has formed a team of police officials to bust the gang and on Wednesday morning the team members nabbed the gang leader Santosh Ram alias Bhola Ram, a resident of Doomar village of sadar block from Meru village market.

Later as per the information given by Santosh his two allies were arrested from different areas of Hazaribagh and nine stolen bikes and a Toyota car was recovered. SP Birthare said that Santosh was expert in lifting bikes and cars parked outside offices, markets etc. and with the help of Md. Imteyaz and Pintu Kumar of Mandai village of sadar block uses to sell the bikes and cars. According to Birthare some ready agreement papers were also seized from the gang members which they use to sell the vehicle. After taking money and handing over the stolen vehicle they use to prepare fake papers also.

Birthare said that out of nine recovered bikes three have been identified so far. One was stolen from Lohsigna area of the town two days ago and two from Vishnugarh some days ago.

The registration number of the car indicates that it is registered in West Bengal. He said that through the engine number and chassis number of the vehicles we will soon find out the real owners of these recovered vehicles.
