IP University organises a training programme
Centre for Disaster Management Studies (CDMS) of IP University has conducted a 10 days training programme on industrial security, safety and disaster management. Prof Amarjeet Kaur, director, CDMS informed that around 15 participants attended this training programme sponsored by Border Security Force (BSF), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). A fire mock drill in collaboration with Delhi Fire Service was also conducted in the campus as part of this training programme. Several experts of industrial security, safety and disaster management were invited for lectures on key issues keeping in line with the theme.
Modi, Oli jointly lay foundation stone of 900 mw Arun III Hydroelectric power plant
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart KP Sharma Oli jointly laid the foundation stone of SJVN's 900 MW Arun III Hydro Electric Project at Kathmandu. The project is located on river Arun in Sunkhuwashabha District of Nepal.
Nand Lal Sharma, chairman and managing director of SJVN informed that the project is being executed by SJVN through its wholly owned subsidiary namely SJVN Arun III Power Development Company (SAPDC). This project has been allocated to SJVN based on International Competitive Bidding (ICB) by Government of Nepal (GoN) in March, 2008.
NBCC signs Annual MoU with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
NBCC, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the FY 2018-19 with its ministry on May 15. The MoU outlines performance targets for the company based on various financial parameters, dynamic parameters, sector specific and enterprise specific parameters. While sales turnover has been fixed at Rs 7200 crore, operating profit has been targeted at Rs 367.20 crore which shall be a hike of 15 per cent from the previous year's profit.
Further, this year's MoU has laid specific emphasis on achieving set milestones with respect to NBCC's subsidiary companies and HRM parameters. The annual MoU has been signed by Durga Shanker Mishra, IAS, secretary (MoHUA), Government of India and Dr Anoop K Mittal, CMD, NBCC.
MoU between Bihar Govt, NTPC
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was entered at Patna for performance improvement of power sector in the state of Bihar. The MoU envisages transfer of Barauni Thermal Power Station (720 MW) and transfer of Bihar State Power Generation Company’s (BSPGCL) equity in Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUN) and Nabinagar Power Generating Company (Pvt.) Limited (NPGC) to NTPC.
Swachhta Pakhwada inaugurated at NHPC
NHPC, India’s premier hydro power company will be organising Swachhta Pakhwada 2018 from May 16 to 31 as per guidelines issued by the Government of India. The Pakhwada was inaugurated by administering of Swachhta Pledge by Balraj Joshi, chairman and managing director, NHPC to employees on May 16. Joshi highlighted the importance of cleanliness by citing the example of the life of Mahatma Gandhi and requested all employees to ensure cleanliness around their workstations. During this Pakhwada, NHPC will organise activities related to cleanliness awareness as tree plantation/ sapling plantation, skit presentation, yoga programme, cleaning kit distribution, special rally for awareness on hygiene, drawing/painting competition et al in the nearby areas of its corporate office.
isp IS SET TO PRODUCE VALUE ADDED PRODUCTS FOR SAIL
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has once again contributed steel for construction of the state-of-the-art India International Convention and Expo Centre. IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) is supplying special quality TMT rebars for this project and the first consignment of 500 tonnes of IS1786 grade Fe550D 12mm TMT rebars has been dispatched.
Produced for the first time in ISP, bars of this grade have 50 mega pascal higher strength. “The use of this higher strength material will not only provide structural stability to the buildings but will also reduce steel consumption and bar congestion,” said Anirban Dasgupta, CEO of IISCO steel plant. The product has been thoroughly tested and has met all the requisite properties like strength, ductility and bendability and is one of the most modern plant in the country.
BIS hosts committee meeting
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national standardisation body of India hosted the 33rd plenary and working groups meeting of one of the very important committees functioning under ISO and IEC, namely ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 7 titled Software and systems engineering at India Habitat Centre during May 6-11 . Surina Rajan, DG, BIS inaugurated it.
The committee JTC 1/SC 7 is responsible for developing the foundational standards in the area of software and systems engineering which are followed by the IT companies across the globe. A large number of Indian IT companies are actively participating in this committee through BIS. India has been assigned the leadership role as chair and secretariat of this prestigious international committee, previously being handled by Canada. This was the first meeting managed by BIS (India) after the change in leadership of this Committee. Thirty five delegates from India participated in these meetings.Fifteen working groups presently functioning under the committee JTC 1/SC 7 met in parallel sessions to discuss standards for various aspects of software engineering such as reference architecture, software testing, software life cycle processes, Software standards for Very Small Enterprises (VSE), IT asset management, agile practices and devops et al.
