BSL hosts summit for stakeholders and bidders on brownfield expansion

The Summit of Key Stakeholders and Bidders for Brownfield Expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant was held at the Main Auditorium of the Department of Human Resources. Conference inaugurated by Anima Kushwaha, Chief General Manager (Projects) and Executive Director (Projects and Additional Charges Material Management) "Towards Collaborative Success" The Summit was formally launched with an insight shared under the theme. Anup Kumar Executive Director (Collieries), S. Mukhopadhyay Executive Director (Projects) Bhilai Steel Plant, Alok Verma Executive Director (Mines), S.K. Verma Executive Director (CET), Tarun Mishra Executive Director (Personnel & Administration) Rourkela Steel Plant and P.K. Rath Executive Director (S.R.U) were present at the inaugural session.

 

A summit aimed at the brownfield expansion of the Bokaro Steel Plant was convened today, gathering key stakeholders and bidders at the Main Auditorium of the Human Resources Department. The inauguration of the summit was marked by a welcome address from Anima Kushwaha, Chief General Manager (Projects), and insights shared under the theme "Towards Collaborative Success" by the Director (Projects & Additional Charge Material Management). The summit commenced formally with an emphasis on fostering collaboration and strategic planning.

 

 Prominent figures such as Anup Kumar Executive Director (Collieries), S. Mukhopadhyay Executive Director (Projects) Bhilai Steel Plant, Alok Verma Executive Director (Mines), S.K. Verma Executive Director (CET), Tarun Mishra Executive Director (Personnel & Administration) Rourkela Steel Plant and  P.K. Rath Executive Director (S.R.U) were present at the inaugural session.

 

The primary objective of the summit is to delineate cost, implementation timelines, and optimal execution strategies for the brownfield expansion between bidders, major stakeholders, advisors, and BSL.

 

During the program, detailed Project Reports (DPRs) were presented on key subjects such as steel production from raw materials and direct rolling by  N.K. Behra, CGM (Brownfield Expansion), BSL, and representatives from M.N. Dastur. Significant contributions were made during panel discussions by P.H. Sharma, CGM (Projects),S.P. Das, CGM (CIT); and M.T. Rao, CGM (Projects) at the corporate office.

 

The expansion goals of BSL include the establishment of a 4500 cubic meter blast furnace, two basic oxygen furnaces (BOFs) with a capacity of 165 tons each, a single-strand slab caster, and the implementation of direct rolling. Additionally, plans entail augmentation of raw material storage and handling facilities along with the expansion of its auxiliary systems to facilitate proficient project execution.

 

 

Concluding the session, Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Director-in-charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, emphasized the ongoing capacity expansion processes across steel companies including BSL, which are aligned with the nation's future demands. He stressed the imperative for clarity and harmony among all stakeholders regarding project planning for the success of this crucial endeavor.
