Congress alliance with AAP for political reasons: BJP

Monday, 29 April 2024 | Saumya Shukla/Samar Pandey | New Delhi

The BJP on Sunday claimed that Congress and AAP came into alliance ‘only for political reasons. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday claimed Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from the post as he could not tolerate efforts to divide the country and insult the majority community. Making this assertion, Sachdeva also said the BJP has always maintained that it is not about parties coming together but hearts coming together, and this was proven today when Lovely resigned.

Highlighting the contradictions in the INDIA alliance in the national capital, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, “The Congress party has no mission or vision, it is only seeped in confusion, division, and contradiction. We have seen how this has been playing out, especially in Delhi. Workers of the Congress party were out on the streets of Delhi protesting against why tickets were given to people who had nothing to do with Delhi, like Kanhaiya Kumar, who had abused the armed forces and called the Naxalites as martyrs.”

On the Congress and AAP alliance, Poonawalla said the parties came together only for political reasons. “AAP had completely obliterated the existence of Congress in Delhi, saying they would put Sheila Dikshit and Sonia Gandhi in jail. The Congress had complained about how the AAP is involved in the liquor scam. But merely for political reasons, they have come together, that does not mean the voters will come together. Today the Congress is unable to retain its leaders because its own leaders are showing the mirror to Congress for its hypocrisy,” he said.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly and South Delhi BJP candidate Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the resignation of Lovely shows how the grand old party is demoralised just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.  “The Congress has admitted defeat,” he added.

BJP media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor said slowly but surely, the BJP’s statement is proving true that the Indi alliance will be completely dissolved before May 25.

Sachdeva stated that the reason behind ending the Indi alliance lies with the Congress, which gave tickets to individuals like Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj, who work to divide the country and insult the majority community.

Every individual who wants to see India develop, who wants to witness the progress of the nation, will never ally with corrupt individuals like Arvind Kejriwal and anti-national figures like Kanhaiya Kumar.

Sachdeva stated that the signal of Lovely’s resignation was apparent on the day when Rajkumar Chauhan wrote a letter. Whether it’s Rajkumar Anand, Rajkumar Chauhan, or Arvind Singh Lovely, the common theme in their resignation letters was Arvind Kejriwal, the main reason for corruption. Giving a ticket to Kanhaiya Kumar was also one of the major reasons.

The Delhi BJP President stated that anyone who has a sense of patriotism cannot stand with people like Kanhaiya Kumar, who talks about breaking the country into pieces.

Sachdeva stated that within Delhi, a new turn has begun with AAP stating that they will engage in corruption, misappropriation of public money, go to jail, but will shamelessly fight elections. The nepotism that Arvind Kejriwal condemned is now being continued by him, and Arvind Singh Lovely’s resignation is just the beginning, as this series of resignations could continue further.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan said it was inevitable as the grassroots workers had not accepted the AAP-Congress alliance. “I guarantee that after their defeat on June 4, the leaders of this alliance will start abusing each other again. Arvinder Lovely Ji’s departure is just the beginning. The conscience of many such grassroots workers will awaken now,” he wrote on X in Hindi.
