Five Maoists held in Bastar

Five Maoists, one of them carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, were arrested on Tuesday in Bastar division in Chhattisgarh.

Pottam Bhima (35) and Hemla Bhima (32) were apprehended from the forest of Kottaguda by the District Reserve Guard and local police in Chintalnar area in Sukma district, its Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said.

Pottam, who carried the bounty, was the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangh president in the outlawed Maoist organization. Hemla was its militia member.

A pipe bomb was seized from them.

Meanwhile, three Maoists were held and explosives were seized from them in Bijapur district.

Nagesh Kattam (22), Suresh Kaka (30) and Dula Kaka (33) were apprehended near Permapalli village by the Central Reserve Police Force and local police, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav said.

The security personnel seized a detonator, a gelatin stick and Maoist pamphlets from them.
