Sunday, 21 April 2024 | PNS | KENDRAPADA

The State Government on Friday suspended Kendrapada district Excise Superintendent Debi Prasad Mishra for dereliction of duty.

Excise Department Joint Commissioner Ramchandra Mishra had recommended the State Government to place the Excise Superintendent under suspension.

Earlier, the Joint Commissioners had visited Kendrapada to conduct an inquiry into allegations of bribery against the Excise Superintendent and other staffs. Later, he had submitted the probe report in which he found Debi Prasad Mishra guilty.

Notably, an audio had gone viral recently in Kendrapada in which  the Excise Superintendent was found directing a staff to settle the matter as he was being pressured by higher-ups.

A complainant, Ashis Mishra of Kendrapada town had alleged that his father Chitta Ranjan Mishra got two IMF shop licences including one at Pattamundai and another at Marshagai. But later, his father decided to transfer the licence to his name.

But when he met the Excise Superintendent, the latter allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to transfer the licence to his name.
