Warring pacifies Parminder Dimple pledging MLA ticket in 2027 assembly polls

Faridkot: In a significant development during a campaign event in Faridkot, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday successfully placated disgruntled party leader Parminder Singh Dimple by offering him assurance of an MLA ticket for the Faridkot constituency in the upcoming 2027 assembly polls. The campaign, which saw a spirited rally led by Warring and Dimple in support of Congress's Lok Sabha candidate from Faridkot Amarjit Kaur Sahoke, resonated with promises of addressing critical issues confronting Punjab and the nation.

Warring expressed confidence in the Congress party’s ability to effectively tackle the myriad challenges gripping the state and the country, asserting that the prevailing electoral atmosphere favoured the Congress. He criticized the AAP for its failure to deliver on its promises, pointing to issues such as the insecurity among businessmen and the lack of progress in development initiatives despite holding a significant number of seats. Highlighting the importance of women's representation in politics, Warring praised Amarjit Sahoke for her experience and grassroots connectivity. Additionally, he lauded Dimple for his unwavering commitment to the party's principles and assured him of an MLA ticket for the Faridkot constituency in the 2027 assembly elections.

Punjab Bachao Yatra created storm against Delhi-based parties: Sukhbir

Balachaur/Garhshankar: SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday said that Punjab Bachao Yatra had created a storm against Delhi-based parties and would lead to the rout of all these parties in the forthcoming parliamentary election. Welcoming Choudhary RP Singh — a well-respected senior Congress leader — into the SAD fold, Sukhbir said that he commanded immense respect amongst the Gujjar community and SAD would be strengthened in Balachaur with his entry into the party.  Sukhbir, who toured Balachaur and Garhshankar assembly segments along with party Sri Anandpur Sahib candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra, said that the phenomenal response to the Punjab Bachao Yatra had made it clear that Punjabis had decided to support their own regional party in the parliamentary elections. “This is why candidates from other parties are even finding it difficult to campaign with people openly questioning them as to why they had betrayed the farmers, weaker sections and youth. Even chief minister Bhagwant Mann is finding it difficult to campaign without using excessive security force to prevent people from asking him questions about unkept promises and failures of his government,” he added.

Bittu is neither a patriot, nor a nationalist; he is just an opportunist: Warring

Ludhiana: Punjab Congress president and party’s candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary constituency Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday said that his rival BJP candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu was neither a patriot nor a nationalist, but just an opportunist. “Once a traitor, always a traitor…If he can betray the Congress that gave him everything, he can betray the BJP also, which cannot give him anything,” said Warring, while addressing a series of public meetings. Warring told the people of Ludhiana not to get carried away by Bittu’s false and fake claims as he had joined the BJP after deserting the Congress only for his personal ambitions. “Bittu mistakenly assumed that the BJP was returning to power at the Centre; and by joining the party, he may become a Minister. Bittu’s misplaced ambitions will come crashing down as neither the BJP is returning to power, nor is he going to win from here,” he claimed, while emphasizing that he had deserted the Congress just with a selfish interest and not for anything else.

Besides, many officials and sitting councilors of Akali Dal and Congress joined AAP in Gurdaspur.

Accountable MLAs are the public's true representatives: Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu

Hamirpur:  The saleable MLAs are the biggest culprits of the people as they have hurt their sentiments and put unnecessary burden of elections, said Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Monday.  Addressing public meetings at Bara, Putdiyal and Nauhangi in Nadaun assembly constituency of Hamirpur district, he said, ''The question is not about the government, the chief minister or the minister's chair. But it is about disrespect of the public vote.'' Sukhu was referring to the six Congress rebel MLAs who had voted in favour of the BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections held on February 27 and later joined the BJP. After being disqualified by the assembly Speaker, they are contesting the assembly bypolls from their respective seats on the BJP ticket.  Seeking votes for Congress candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency Satpal Raizada, Sukhu, who represents the Nadaun seat in the assembly, said, ''The people of Nadaun are members of my family. Vote as much as possible for the Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.'' After the election results, the message should go out that the Congress has got a big lead from the chief minister's area, he added. Sukhu alleged that Union minister Anurag Thakur did nothing while being an MP from Hamirpur. He (Thakur) did not stand with the affected people during the monsoon disaster last year.
