Teenage girl killed by parents in Hapur

Thursday, 28 March 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

In a shocking killing reported from Khudaliya village in Hapur district, the father and stepmother of a teenage girl murdered her and later fled from the house, police said on Wednesday.

The body was found lying in the home of the victim and there were injury marks on her neck and face and blood was oozing out. The police sent the body for post-mortem and launched a hunt for the absconding parents.

Saurabh Chaudhary, a resident of Tatarpur village in City Kotwali area of Bulandshahr district, informed the police that about 20-years-back, he had married his sister Laxmi to one Amit, a resident of Khudaliya village in Hapur district. He alleged that after a few years of marriage, Amit started beating Laxmi and killed her. Saurabh claimed that his parents did not inform the police, keeping in mind the future of his sister’s daughter Yogita.

According to Saurabh, a few days after the death of Laxmi, Amit got married to Chanchal for the second time. Chanchal, being the stepmother, neither liked Yogita nor behaved well with her.

On Tuesday evening, Saurabh got information that the body of Yogita was lying inside the house and that Amit and Chanchal were missing. He rushed to the spot and subsequently informed the police.

According to the police, Yogita had accused a neighbouring youth of molesting her two years ago. The police had registered a case and arrested the accused.

According to Circle Officer Ashutosh Shivam, they got information on Dial 112 about the death of a girl. The police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Late in night, the deceased’s maternal uncle Saurabh filed a complaint in the police station and accused the parents of murder, on the basis of which a case has been registered against father Amit and stepmother Chanchal. The accused couple has been absconding since the incident and the police are searching for them.

The CO said that circumstantial evidence suggested that Yogita was strangled to death after stuffing cloth in her mouth.

According to the police, the accused couple also tried to dispose of Yogita’s body but as some neighbours suspected foul play after the family did not come out till late Tuesday noon, so their plan failed. As the neighbours knocked at the door to enquire about the matter from Amit, the couple opened the door but fled from the scene of crime before anyone could see the body.

Further investigations are on by the police.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old woman was found murdered under mysterious circumstances near the panchayat bhawan of a village under Tikaitganj police station of Barabanki on Tuesday evening.

Senior police officials said that the woman was missing from home since Tuesday morning.

The victim’s mother, meanwhile, raised suspicion that her daughter was raped and murdered as she had spotted three men near the scene of crime when she was looking for her daughter when she did not return home.

Police officials said one of the suspects was taken into custody and further investigations were on. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Circle Officer of Ram Sanehi Ghat (Barabanki), JS Mishra, said the woman’s body was spotted lying near the panchayat bhawan by a local. The mother of the deceased had told the police that her daughter went missing after she went out to attend nature’s call on Tuesday morning. The mother suspects the involvement of a youth from the same village as her family had strained relations with him following which he was taken into custody.
