Tribals are Shaivites among Hindus: Sai

Wednesday, 10 April 2024 | Staff Reporter | JASHPUR

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday claimed that the tribals in Chhattisgarh follow Shiv-Parvati and belong to the Shaivite sect among Hindus.

Some forces are creating confusion and misleading the tribals calling them non-Hindus, he said.

Sai said this at an event of Vanwasi Kalyan Ashram in Jashpur to celebrate Sarhul festival. Sarhul is celebrated by Jashpur tribals on the occasion of Chaitra Pratipada, the beginning of new year of Hindu calendar.

“Don’t give ear to false propaganda of miscreants who are trying to break the unity of tribals,” Sai said. A befitting reply has to be given to them, he added.

Tribals are worshippers of both nature as well as ‘Shakti’, and nature was also a part of Shakti, and Goddess Durga, he said.

Sai, who belong to the tribal community, sought blessings from the people of Jashpur.
