A young woman was found hanging in a rented house in the Bharatpur area of the capital city on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Bishnupriya Rout.
She had shared the rented accommodation under the Bharatpur police station with another woman. But her roommate was found absconding after the incident.
Getting information, a police team reached the spot and sent the body to a hospital for postmortem.
Since Bishnupriya’s roommate was absconding, her family suspected that she might have been murdered.
However, police said that prima facie, it appeared to be a case of death by suicide. “The body was found in the house which was closed from inside. We suspect it to be a case of suicide,” said Bharatpur police station IIC Dinakrushna Mishra.
