Prestige Model United Nations 2024 organized by the Prestige Institute of Management and Research concluded with the presentation of awards to students in various categories. Agrim Soni, a DPS Rau student, received the Best Parliamentarian award in the Lok Sabha. Nyasa Thamman, from Satya Sai Vidya Vihar, was presented with the Best Delegate award at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Aaradhya Jakhetiya of Choithram School secured the Best Delegate award at the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee.
While, Akshay Iyer of Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar and Deshna Kalra from Shishukunj School were awarded the Best Reporter and Best Photographer awards, respectively, at the International Press.
While addressing the valedictory ceremony, Brigadier Saurabh Jain, Group Commander of NCC Indore, said that the Prestige Model United Nations provided students with a deeper understanding of United Nations operations and various international events. He also informed the students about the Indian Peacekeeping Force and the Iran-Israel conflict.
Dr. Pratibha Kanungo, Principal of SDPS International School, mentioned that participation in such events equips students with life and problem-solving skills.
Dr. Asma Ansari, Dean of CIE and Placement Cell at Daly College, Indore, said that an event like MUN serves as an excellent platform for young students to grasp global issues, fostering critical thinking and effective collaboration.
Dr. Sudhir Khetawat, a Holistic Medicine practitioner, educated the students on the power of the mind and holistic healing techniques.
Debasis Mallik, Senior Director of PIMR, discussed three sustainable development goals related to poverty, hunger, and well-being, emphasizing the importance of living in peace and harmony. He encouraged students to aspire for wisdom over mere knowledge.
Col Dr. S Raman Iyer, Director of PIMR, remarked that the Model United Nations has been instrumental in enabling students to articulate their perspectives on global issues.
