Youth power made BJP strongest, largest political party in World: Tandon

Chandigarh: BJP candidate from Chandigarh parliamentary seat Sanjay Tandon on Sunday said that if youth power is with any organization, its success is certain. “This is the strength of the world's largest political party, Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said while addressing hundreds of youth, who had come to join the BJP under the leadership of Sunny Shah and Tushar Shah at the BJP office in Sector 33, Chandigarh. Tandon said that youth of the country today understands the importance of the changes that have taken place during the 10 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure.

Tandon also encouraged the members, who have joined the BJP family and appealed to them to contribute to the nation. At the same time, he appealed to explain this to colleagues and contacts that after the opportunity to vote on June 1, the next opportunity will be available only after five years, hence no mistake in choosing the candidate should be made. “If the people of Chandigarh take the right decision, they will get more benefits in the next five years and if the button is pressed at the wrong place, then there will be trouble, because this election is about giving the next opportunity to an honest government and giving the keys to power to the corrupt,” he said.

Election-related hoardings, posters, banners must have identity of printer, publisher: Mohali DEO

Mohali: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer Aashika Jain on Sunday made it clear that election-related hoardings, posters, or banners must have the identity of printer and publisher. Citing the fresh guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India regarding the election-related hoardings on sites controlled or regulated by local self-government or Municipal Authorities, Jain said that the ECI has emphasized that the fundamental imperatives which underwrite the design of R P Act 1951 and the Model Code of Conduct in the campaigning space, in print mode, inter-alia, are the disclosure of identity of the publisher and, thereby his responsibility of the content of the material so published.  Similarly, Section 127A of the R P Act 1951 clearly prohibits publishing of election pamphlet or poster without bearing the name and publisher on the face thereof. Section 127 A (3) (b) gives a wide amplitude to the meaning of the phase “election pamphlet or poster”, to include “placard or poster”. Thus, any non-compliances or obfuscation of this requirement is always to be viewed seriously.

She has advised all municipal authorities or such authorities that are responsible for hoardings, posters, or banners etc for strict compliance of the orders of ECI. Besides, printers and publishers (political parties or candidates or their representatives) have also been asked to adhere to the directions of ECI, in principle.
