Wednesday, 03 April 2024 | Staff Reporter | DANTEWADA

Two lower rung Maoists surrendered to security forces on Tuesday in Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh.

Hadma Madkami (38) and Ayatu Madkam (20) turned themselves in, citing disappointment with the Maoist ideology, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai said.

Madkami was a militia member while Madkam was a Chetna Natya Mandali member in the outlawed Maoist organisation.

So far, 688 Maoists, including 174 carrying cash rewards, have quit violence in the district since June 2020.
