GIS is a milestone for the digital future of the state: CM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Bhopal, said that the 3T sectors—Textile, Tourism, and Technology—will play a crucial role in the country’s development. He highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is evolving beyond its traditional industrial identity and is rapidly transforming into a hub of technology and innovation in India. For the first time, an IT and Technology Summit was organized as part of GIS, marking a significant step towards the state's digital advancement. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that this event would serve as a milestone in shaping Madhya Pradesh’s digital future and firmly establishing the state as a new center for technology.
The state received investment proposals exceeding Rs 64,000 crore in the IT sector, which is expected to generate more than 1.8 lakh employment opportunities, with youth playing a key role in these jobs. Several leading tech companies, including Digital Convergence Technologies, Tholons, Alcina, Sritech, Kens Technology, and Beyond Studios, have invested in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, global technology giants such as IBM, Microsoft, and Barclays have expressed interest in investing in the state. MoUs have been signed with these companies to enhance Madhya Pradesh’s technical infrastructure, fostering advancements in technology, skill development, and innovation.
For the first time, six departmental summits were organized to enhance the effectiveness of GIS Bhopal. Additionally, four special sessions were held for entrepreneurs and start-ups as part of the IT and Technology Summit. These sessions facilitated direct interactions between industry experts and the Department of Information and Technology, allowing for discussions on state policies and the exploration of new investment opportunities.The summit also focused on key emerging sectors, including Electronics System Design and Manufacturing, Global Capability Centers, Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, Extended Reality, Semiconductor, and Drone Technology. Discussions were held to strategize the state's approach to these high-growth areas. The state government has undertaken significant initiatives to promote semiconductor and electronics manufacturing while also encouraging advancements in drone technology.
A new policy from the Science and Technology Department was introduced at GIS Bhopal, aimed at making Madhya Pradesh an investment-friendly hub for the IT sector. The Madhya Pradesh Animation, VR, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality Policy-2025, GCC Policy-2025, Semiconductor Policy-2025, and Drone Promotion and Use Policy-2025 were launched. These policies include both financial and non-financial incentives to attract investment in IT and technology sectors. Designed with future opportunities in mind, these policies were crafted to be both comprehensive and visionary. Experts from the IT industry highly appreciated these initiatives during the departmental summit.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the launch of new skill development programs to train youth in advanced IT and technology fields. These programs will focus on cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, cyber security, blockchain, and cloud computing.
GIS Bhopal served not only as a platform to attract investments but also as a forum for brainstorming, policymaking, and shaping the future of the sector. With a vision to contribute to the development of both Madhya Pradesh and India, the IT sector will play a crucial role in driving investment, innovation, and new opportunities in the state.
