21 Indian crew members of MT Settebello return home after rescue operation off Oman Coast

21 Indian crew members of the vessel MT Settebello have safely returned home after being rescued following a maritime incident off the coast of Oman, the Indian Embassy in Muscat confirmed.
The embassy stated that the Indian Ambassador met the rescued crew members before their departure and conveyed his support, praising their resilience during the difficult incident. The mission also reiterated its continued commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of Indian nationals abroad.
The Palau-flagged vessel was reportedly about 30 nautical miles off the coast of Sohar when it came under attack, triggering an emergency response. Following the incident, Oman’s Maritime Security Centre coordinated a Search and Rescue operation in the area.
Authorities successfully rescued 21 Indian seafarers, while three crew members reportedly lost their lives in the incident. The exact circumstances surrounding the attack are still under investigation by relevant authorities.
The rescued crew members were later assisted in returning to India after completing necessary formalities and coordination between Omani officials and the Indian diplomatic mission.
