Imagine holding the solution to pest problems in the palm of your hand. Progressive farmers and extension workers of East Singhbhum district are now equipped with the NPSS mobile app, a game-changer in pest surveillance and management.

During a training session organized by the Central Integrated Pest Management Center (CIPMC), Ranchi, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, participants learned how this app can revolutionize their farming practices. The app enables farmers to upload pictures of pest or disease-affected crops, receive expert advice, and act on advance warnings to protect their fields.

Technical assistants  Nitish Kumar Suman and  Purnendra Mishra demonstrated the app’s functionality, emphasizing its role in real-time pest identification and management. “This app bridges the gap between the field and expert guidance, ensuring farmers can mitigate risks promptly,” explained  Suman.

The training also delved into integrated pest management (IPM) methods, the use of traps, and the importance of monitoring pest diseases. “Farmers will now have the ability to identify pest diseases and friendly insects with precision, thanks to this app,” added  Mishra.

Attended by Block and Assistant Technical Managers from ATMA and progressive farmers, the program aims to create a tech-savvy generation of farmers who can tackle pest challenges proactively.

This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to blending traditional farming wisdom with modern technology to safeguard crops and boost agricultural productivity.
