Thieves gang busted, 2 held in Lohardaga
Lohardaga police have arrested two notorious thieves during a late night raid while they were planning a theft. The operation led to the recovery of a country-made pistol, live ammunition, a stolen motorcycle, a generator, mobile phones, and several other suspicious items. Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Sadiq Anwar Rizvi, a special team was formed, which promptly carried out the operation and caught the criminals red handed. SP Rizvi informed that for the past several days, the police had been receiving reports of repeated thefts in the urban areas of Lohardaga.
On the night of June 24–25, the police received a tip-off that some suspicious youths were seen loitering in the Juriya and Raja Bangla areas. Acting swiftly, the police team cordoned off the suspected area. At around 1:20 AM, near the house of Md. Yasin Ansari, police spotted three to four youths attempting to break open a house grill. On seeing the police, the suspects tried to flee, but two of them were apprehended on the spot while others escaped under the cover of darkness.
The arrested accused have been identified as Santosh Oraon, son of Sukra Oraon, resident of Jhapra, Karra police station, Khunti district, Jitram Oraon, son of Thepa Oraon, resident of Bantoli, Bharno police station, Gumla district. Upon search, police recovered a screwdriver, one country made pistol, one live cartridge (.315 bore), a 7.5 KVA generator of Bharat Company (loaded in a pickup vehicle), a Bajaj Discover motorcycle (registration no. JH08E-8003), and two mobile phones with SIM cards.
Further investigation revealed that the recovered motorcycle and generator were linked to two recent theft cases registered under case numbers 98/25 and 99/25 at Lohardaga police station.
