HM Amit Shah reviews Maharashtra, Gujarat rain situation; assures centre’s full support

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the heavy rainfall situation in Maharashtra and Gujarat and assured all possible assistance from the Centre as both states continued to face disruptions caused by intense monsoon activity.
Shah held discussions with the state governments and took stock of the impact of heavy rains, flooding and related challenges. He assured that the Centre would extend necessary support, including assistance from disaster response agencies, to help carry out rescue and relief operations.
Maharashtra has witnessed heavy rainfall in several regions, particularly across the Western Ghats, with intense showers triggering landslides and affecting normal life. Areas in the Sahyadri ranges have reported extremely heavy rainfall, leading to concerns over flooding, road blockages and safety of residents.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, with flash flood risks in several districts. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.
Shah directed officials to maintain close coordination with state administrations and ensure that relief measures reach affected people without delay. Disaster management teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are being kept ready for emergency operations wherever required.
The Centre is closely monitoring the evolving weather situation as monsoon rains continue to impact several parts of the country.
