State lab tampered with viscera samples in RG Kar rape case: Victim’s father

In a shocking claim, the father of the victim doctor of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case has told a trial court how the viscera samples of the victim were tampered with by three officials of the state-run Forensic Science Laboratory, seeking a proper inquiry into the matter.

Submitting two letters before the Sealdah Court, the father of the victim said that he had received those letters during the month of May from a retired employee of the state-run SFSL at Belgachia, north of Kolkata.

The letter alleged that three employees of the SFSL had tampered with the viscera sample before sending it to the Central Forensic Laboratory. “The names of the three employees have been mentioned in the letter … I request the Court to enquire into the facts and bring the truth before the world,” said the father of the victim, whose wife had earlier joined the BJP in quest of justice and successfully contested the April-May Assembly elections.

The mother of the rape victim said that her only goal was to seek justice for her daughter. The incident had shocked the entire country and even hit the international headlines.

According to strong allegations, some vested interests, including doctors linked to the then Mamata Banerjee Government, had played an active role in the rape and murder of the lady doctor.

After coming to power, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had promptly suspended three top IPS officers, including a former Commissioner of Kolkata Police.
