Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri laid out ambitious plans for Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy landscape, announcing the establishment of 100 compressed biogas (CBG) plants in the state in the near future.
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of Indian Oil’s CBG plant in Dhuriyapar, Puri hailed the initiative as a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, agricultural prosperity and energy independence.
“Indian Oil’s investment of Rs 165 crore in the Dhuriyapar plant underscores the commitment to leveraging bio-waste for constructive purposes,” Puri said.
The plant will daily utilise 200 metric tons of agricultural residue, 20 metric tons of press mud, and 10 metric tons of cattle dung to produce approximately 20 metric tons of biogas and 125 metric tons of organic fertiliser.
Puri lauded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Green Hydrogen policy, recognising its potential for accelerating environmental conservation efforts.
He announced forthcoming investments in this sector, including plans to establish a green hydrogen plant in Sonbhadra, the district he has adopted.
Extolling the stewardship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Puri emphasised Uttar Pradesh’s trajectory towards becoming a trillion-dollar economy under his leadership. He underscored the pivotal role of the state’s progress in propelling India towards the goal of a five-trillion-dollar economy.
Puri also commended the swift implementation of Central government schemes in Uttar Pradesh, facilitated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s effective governance.
The announcement signals a strategic shift towards renewable energy sources in Uttar Pradesh, aligning with broader national objectives of sustainability and economic growth.
