Dr Anshul Rai, Additional Professor, Department of Dentistry, through his research, has  developed a "Gum Massaging Brush" prepared from Neem wood and bottle gourd loofah. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of India Government of India has granted the Copyright to "Gum Massaging Brush".

The most common disease related to mouth in the world is gum disease; it includes bleeding gums, swelling, bad breath, loose teeth and pain. The main reason for this is not cleaning the mouth properly. Till now all the brushes in the world have been made for teeth. This is the world's first new brush designed for gums. The main reasons for increasing gum disease are eating too much sweet and junk food, not brushing properly or eating too many times. Due to this, the blood supply to the gums reduces, the gums become flabby and swell, due to which they start bleeding. Gum massage brush is made using neem wood and bottle gourd loofah. The cost of making it was also very low because neem wood and bottle gourd loofah were easily available. No plastic was used at all which is usually used in brushes. After doing research with a larger sample size, it can be launched in the market soon. For this innovative technology, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Professor (Dr) Ajai Singh has congratulated Dr Anshul Rai for his success.
