Friday, 19 April 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

The Election Commission will keep a close watch on dummy candidates during the Lok Sabha elections. Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand K. Ravi Kumar said in a press conference on Thursday that such candidates have been identified and instructions have been given to take strict action. He said that it has come to the notice of the Commission that other candidates manage the election expenses in the name of dummy candidates.

Kumar said that this time the vehicle permits for the candidates in the elections will be foolproof. For this the Commission has created a standard format. It will be of seven types. It will be difficult to copy it. It will be mandatory to install it on the screen of the vehicle. On changing the vehicle, the permit will have to be surrendered and a permit for the new vehicle will have to be obtained.

Meanwhile, not a single nomination was filed on Thursday, the first day of nomination for four Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections. In the first phase, elections will be held in Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Khunti and Palamu Loss areas.

Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said that in terms of area, Khunti is the second largest in area. Chatra has the largest area. Among the four constituencies where voting will be held in the first phase of elections, the number of women voters is more than that of men in Lohardaga, Khunti and Singhbhum. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora and OSD Geeta Choubey were also present in the press conference.
