Hry ACB arrests SI, constable for demanding, accepting bribe
Chandigarh: A team of Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday arrested Sub-Inspector Surender and Head Constable Birpal, posted at Dial-112 Ferozepur Jhirka police station in Nuh district, while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. A government official spokesperson said that the ACB team received a complaint that the accused were demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in exchange for not registering a false case against him. The complainant said that the accused had already taken Rs 1.5 lakh as a bribe in the form of tyres in this case. ACB team arrested the duo red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. A case has been registered against the accused at the Gurugram ACB police station.
Sixth National Nutrition Conference on ‘Functional Nutrition’ held at PGIMER
Chandigarh: In commemoration of World Health Day, the sixth National Nutrition Conference, themed ‘Functional Nutrition: Its Role in Clinical Practice’, hosted by PGIMER’s Department of Dietetics, commenced on Sunday. PGIMER chief dietician Dr Nancy Sahni, in her address shed light on the multifaceted contributions of millets to overall wellbeing, and positioning it as a beacon of knowledge and empowerment in the field of nutrition. She elaborated, “Unlocking Millets’ Journey From Grain To Medicine" advocates for the adoption of proper processing techniques to enhance the digestibility and bioavailability of millets’ nutrients, offering practical and easily understandable methods to derive maximum nutritional benefit from these ancient grains.”
Swachta walkathon organized at PGIMER
Chandigarh: The Swachta Walkathon themed as ‘Lets team up to clean up’ organized by the PGIMER’s Department of Hospital Administration, as part of the ongoing Swachta Pakhwada launched on April 1 at PGIMER, concluded on Sunday on a resounding note, emphasizing cleanliness as a shared social responsibility and pledging to extend efforts beyond institute’s boundaries. Over 200 enthusiasts, carrying placards adorned with cleanliness messages, marched together from PGIMER’s Kairon Block, to New Park, Hawrah Line, symbolizing a collective commitment to hygiene. The walkathon was flagged off by Dr Minal Bhatia, co-organizer Swachta Pakhwada, in the august presence of PGIMER’s Medical Superintendent Prof Vipin Koushal, faculty from Department of Hospital Administration. PGIMER director Prof. Vivek Lal, in his message, conveyed his support for the initiative.
‘Maat-Pita poojan diwas’ on April 10
Mohali: ‘Maat-Pita poojan diwas’ will be celebrated on April 10 at the world’s first and only under-construction Maat-Pita Temple at Khallaur village in Mohali district.
