Lioness Rewa gives birth to 3 cubs

Thursday, 28 March 2024 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Asiatic lioness Rewa has given birth to three male cubs at the Nandankanan Zoological Park. This was informed by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF)-Wildlife Susanta Nanda.

Taking to his personal ‘X’ handle, the PCCF wrote, “Welcome Amar, Akbar & Anthony☺️☺️ Seven-year-old Asiatic lioness Rewa at Nandankanan Biological Park has given birth to three male cubs. As the mother abandoned them, they were stabilised in neonatal ICU and are being hand reared now.”

It is the second time that she has given birth to cubs. After birth, the lioness rejected the cubs and did not take care of them; hence, these cubs have been shifted to a hand-rearing centre.
