In an extremely tragic mishap, two bike-borne youths were crushed to death by a speeding bus in Balangir district on Wednesday. The incident took place near the toll gate on NH-57 on the Balangir-Sonepur road.
Though the identities of the deceased were not identified yet, preliminary investigation revealed that the bike bearing registration number OD 15Y 7983 was from coming Sambalpur.
As per reports, the bus belonged to Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) and was plying on the Phulbani-Balangir route when it hit the bike near Bhadrapalli and ran over the two youths resulting in their death on the spot.
Police on getting information reached the spot and started a probe. The bus was detained at Tarbha and the driver was being questioning, official sources informed. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
