Voters have shown they favour Modi, claims BJP

Wednesday, 27 March 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary and State election in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam said the considering the atmosphere during the filing of nomination by party candidates, it is clear that the people have decided to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aim of the BJP/NDA winning more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Talking to the media after accompanying party candidates who filed their nomination, Gautam said that the statement made by the Congress spokeswoman about BJP candidate and actor Kangana Ranaut is objectionable and an insult to women. While a Congress spokeswoman is denigrating a BJP candidate, the Congress did not field even a single woman candidate in Uttarakhand, he said.

Addressing the media at the party’s State media centre on Tuesday, Gautam said that the effect of the works done by PM Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami are evident to all. He said, “At a time when PM Modi and CM Dhami are working in various ways to uplift and empower women, leaders of the Congress and the opposition are insulting women. The manner in which Congress spokeswoman Supriya Shrinate made a denigrating comment on Kangana Ranaut on social media is despicable and exposes the attitude of the Congress towards women. The Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge should suspend this spokeswoman.”

Gautam further accused the Congress of spreading misinformation on issues related to women, adding that it had been exposed by its selection of Lok Sabha candidates. The Congress had not selected even one woman candidate for any of the five Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttarakhand, he said. On the other hand, the BJP government in the State had facilitated 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs, in addition to various other schemes being executed by the government in the interest of women.

Referring to Congress candidate Virendra Rawat, the son of former chief minister Harish Rawat, Gautam said that the nepotism which the Congress is undertaking in Delhi is being perpetuated by Rawat in Uttarakhand.
