54 candidates in fray for 5th phase after withdrawal of nominations

Chief Election Officer, Jharkhand K. Ravi Kumar has said that after withdrawal of nominations for the fifth phase of elections, 54 candidates remain in the fray. On the last day of withdrawal of nominations, one candidate withdrew his nomination from Chatra Lok Sabha constituency. There are now a total of 22 candidates in the fray here. Two candidates from Koderma Lok Sabha constituency have withdrawn from the fray. Now the victory and defeat will be decided between 15 candidates here.

On the other hand, no candidate has withdrawn his nomination from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency. There are a total of 17 candidates in the fray here. In Gandey assembly by-election also, no candidate withdrew his candidature on the last day of withdrawal of nominations. There are a total of 11 candidates in the fray from here.

So far, 118 candidates have filed nominations for the sixth phase of elections. Out of them, 25 candidates from Giridih Lok Sabha constituency, 28 from Dhanbad, 33 from Ranchi and 32 from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency have filed nominations. The Chief Electoral Officer was addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Monday.

He informed that since the notification of the election, goods and cash worth more than Rs 74 crore 38 lakh have been seized in Jharkhand. In response to a question, he said that there is no shortage of vehicles for election work. Vehicles are being easily available as per requirement. He said that the interest of the vehicle owners is also being taken care of in taking vehicles for election work. Arrangements have been made in such a way that the vehicle which has been marked for taking in one district will not be marked in another district. Digital arrangements have also been made to ensure that the vehicle owners get the fare of the vehicle on time.

The Chief Electoral Officer appealed to all the voters to post Lok Sabha election related content with the hashtag #MainBhiElectionAmbassador on social media handles between 6 pm to 8 pm on May 7, 2024 under the SVEEP program in the Lok Sabha General Election 2024. He asked everyone to post good photos, videos, text etc. related to the election. He has also appealed to social media influencers to become a part of this special campaign and post on their social media using the above hashtag.
