Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from a jeweller in the Delang area of Puri district on Wednesday night.
The victim, Prashant Mohapatra owns a jewellery store in the Delang market. As per the complaint lodged with police, the incident occurred near the Delang police station.
As many as five youths armed with guns intercepted Prashant while he was heading home after closing his shop. They terrorised him at gunpoint and decamped with 270 grams of gold and 6 kilograms of silver.
Following Prashant’s complaint, the Delang police initiated an investigation and launched a search operation to trace and nab the accused. The incident has triggered panic among the local business community.
