Recently, Congress’ Ranchi candidate Yashaswini Sahay, a political newbie and daughter of former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay said that creating model villages, building sports infrastructure, preserving the heritage of Ranchi and generating employment are her priorities.

BJP had accused Subodh Kant Sahay whose name was earlier speculated as the Congress candidate from Ranchi of indulging in nepotism and securing a ticket for her daughter for the prestigious constituency of Ranchi.

Yashaswini Sahay who practises law in Mumbai did not attach much importance to the BJP’s criticism of “nepotism”, claiming that it was propaganda of the saffron camp for diverting people's attention from key issues like unemployment.
Subodh Kant Sahay was defeated by Sanjay Seth from Ranchi in the 2019 elections.

Earlier, Sanjay Seth, the BJP candidate for the Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency, on Thursday filed his nomination in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Accompanied by CM Dhami, leader of opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Amar Kumar Bauri, AJSU chief Sudesh Mahto, JD(U)’s Kheeru Mahto and other BJP leaders, Seth expressed confidence for his victory from Ranchi.

Before filing of the papers, a grand poll meeting was organised in Morabadi ground in Ranchi where thousands of supporters from different assembly constituencies were also present.

Campaigning for Ranchi Lok Sabha seat has gained momentum as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in Ranchi for BJP candidate Sanjay Seth on Friday evening before wrapping up the first day of his two-day Jharkhand visit.

The voting for Ranchi LS seat will be held on May 25, while counting will be held on June 4.
