ED seeks 7 day remand of JMM leader Antu Tikey, 3 others in land scam case

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday presented four arrested people before the PMLA court in Ranchi in connection with the land scam case related with former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The ED has sought seven day remand of the arrested accused persons, which include JMM leader Antu Tirkey, Congress leader cum land broker Priya Ranjan Sahay, Bipon Singh and Irshad Akhtar.

Hearing on the remand application of the ED will take place at the PMLA court on Thursday, April 18.

ED has said in its remand application that the scrutiny of the voluminous property documents secreted on the premises of Bhanu Pratap Prasad along with the seventeen original registers revealed fresh facts and evidences about illegal activities to acquire several other properties by a syndicate which comprise of Md. Saddam Hussain, Afshar Ali, Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Priya Ranjan Sahay, Bipin Singh and others.

In this matter, accused persons namely Hemant Soren, Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Md. Saddam Hussain and Afshar Ali have been arrested earlier for their involvement for acquiring properties in an illegal manner.  Further investigation has revealed about preparation of a fake deed number 3985 of the year 1940, a copy of which was seized from the possession of Md. Saddam Hussain during searches on 13.04.2023. This deed has been made for a property of 6.34 acres spread over several plots of Khata no. 234 out of which plot no. 989 (84 decimals) and 996 (32 decimals) falls under the said 8.86 acres property which is in illegal possession of Hemant Soren. The said 8.86 acres property as well as the aforestated 6.34 acres properties are Bhuinhari properties, non-saleable in nature, but the same are being acquired, sold and possessed in illegal and concealed manner by the accused persons namely Hemant Soren, Md. Saddam Hussain, Afshar Ali, Priya Ranjan Sahay, Antu Tirkey and others.

The ED said that during the scrutiny of diaries seized from possession of Md. Saddam Hussain, it reveals that Antu Tirkey is involved in fraudulent sale/purchase of land under Khata no. 234. The scrutiny of the diary has also revealed about huge cash dealings between Md. Saddam Hussain and Antu Tirkey in relation to the land of Khata no. 234 and others.

According to ED Md. Saddam Hussain, Afshar Ali, Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Priya Ranjan Sahay, Bipin Singh, Irshad Akhtar, Bipin Singh and others are also involved in the preparation of fake deed No 3954 of year 1974 and 2376 of 1940 in relation to the property admeasuring 4.83 acres at Gari Mauza, Ranchi. It is stated that the land measuring 4.83 acres is a portion of 37.10 acres of Khata no. 53, Mouza Gari, Ranchi.

ED said that Bipin Singh and Priya Ranjan Sahay are also involved in the forgeries with government records in association with Afshar Ali, Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Shekhar Kushwaha alias Mahto and others in tempering the original Panji II registers to acquire the said 4.83 acres of land. Md. Irshad Akhtar was instrumental in arranging blank sheets of original registers kept at the Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata for preparation of fake deeds.
