A fire broke out in the Union Carbide factory on Monday. A fire broke out in a plastic tank in the factory at around 3.30 pm. On receiving information from a passerby, the Municipal Corporation's fire brigade team reached the spot and brought it under control.
Devendra Kansote, who lives in street number 10 of JP Nagar, located in front of the Union Carbide factory complex, said that he was passing in front of the factory. Then smoke was seen rising from the factory premises. When he went near the boundary wall of the Union Carbide factory, he saw flames rising from a tank inside.
He immediately informed the fire control room of the Municipal Corporation about the incident. Fire brigade arrived after about 10 minutes and controlled the fire in the factory premises after half an hour of effort. After the fire was controlled, when the fire brigade investigated the cause of the fire, it was revealed that the fire started in a plastic tank.
Meanwhile, a second incident of fire was reported in Noor Mahal road on Monday afternoon, an electric transformer caught fire due to the flames of burning scrap.
