The Keonjhar Citizen Forum in its meeting presided over by its president Dr Arun Sahu discussed different issues related to the DD University, DD Medical College and Keonjhar Engineering College. Former Professor Bana Bihari Mishra who is also a member of Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC), joining the meeting, said that a trauma centre which was a long pending demand of the forum is going to open at the DD Medical College soon.
He also said that there is a need for acquiring more land for development of the south campus of DD University. Further, it was also discussed that the distance between the North block and South block of the university is about 7 km and if three buses will ply between two campuses, then the logistic problem of the students and staff will be solved to a great extent. However, all the members expressed their deep concern when they came to know that outside candidates are taken for grade -3 and grade -4 staff of DD Medical College and Keonjhar Engineering College. An outside agency based at Bhubaneswar has been entrusted to hire candidates and they stressed that the agency opens its office in Keonjhar and appoints local candidates.
It was discussed in the meeting that a team will very soon meet the appropriate authorities and discuss with them how local candidates will get preference in the appointment of grade 3 and grade 4 posts. Duryodhan Behera, Rajendra Kumar Sahu, Nilamani Sahu, among others, participated in the discussion.
