Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena, conducted a thorough inspection of Sanjay Van and Mehrauli Archaeological Park in South Delhi on Monday, overseeing the ongoing restoration and beautification efforts spearheaded by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The deadline for completion has been set before the impending monsoon season.
This marks the seventh visit by the LG since his initial inspection of Sanjay Van on February 4, 2023, with his most recent visit occurring on March 4 this year. During his last visit, Saxena instructed DDA officials to commence work on filling the water bodies Anang Tal and Lalkot Baoli Qila Rai Pithora in Sanjay Van. He also directed efforts towards conserving and restoring historical landmarks such as Balban’s Tomb, Jamali Kamali Mosque, and Rajon ki Baoli in Mehrauli Archaeological Park, under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
These endeavors aim to transform these heritage sites into new public assets for the Capital, enhancing Delhi’s stature as a heritage city. Much of the restoration work at both locations has already been completed, drawing significant foot traffic since October of last year, when Saxena inaugurated the renovated Mehrauli Archaeological Park.
