Polish model alleges casting couch

Tuesday, 04 June 2013 | SR | New Delhi

A 17-year-old girl from Poland was allegedly molested by the owner of a modelling agency in Greater Kailash, South-East Delhi. The victim was molested when she refused to give in to the advances of the casting couch of the agency. Police said that the accused has been identified as Imshan (25), who lives in Kalkaji and runs his office in Greater Kailash.

"The incident came to light on Sunday evening when a victim made a call to the police control room (PCR) and informed them that she was wrongfully confined by her employer in his rented office-cum-residential flat," a senior police officer said.

After receiving the PCR call, police immediately rushed to the spot and the victim was rescued from the flat where she was confined. Police have found another model from Brazil, held captive in the flat.

"The victim told the police that she came to India from Poland around two months ago, after she was approached by Imshan, owner of the modeling agency for some project," the officer added.

Police said that after two months of the assignment, the accused tried to sexually exploit her after offering her another assignment but when she refused, he started harassing her and also molested her.

"The accused wanted her to give in to his demands, however when she refused, he then stopped giving her salary. The accused allegedly also refused to give her money to return to Poland. He further threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone," an officer said. The victim approached the police for help and narrated her ordeal. Her medical examination was conducted on Monday morning and based on the victim's complaint; a case was registered against the accused person at Greater Kailash police station.

"We are looking for him and several raids are being conducted in Uttar Pradesh and Gurgaon by three special teams of Delhi police. The concerned embassy has been also informed about the incident," the officer added.
