The Utkal Dance & Research Academy (UDRA), which has been constituted in the memory of late Guru Sahadev Padhi, organised its two-day 11th Kumar Utsav at the Rabindra Mandap here on Wednesday and Thursday.
Eminent singer Prafulla Kar was conferred the Guru Sahadev Padhi Memorial Award on the occasion. At the inaugural evening, the audience was mesmerised by the Odissi dance recital by Bangalore-based artiste Madhulita Mohapatra. Her performance depicted the festival Kumar Purnima, Pancha Matruka, Bakratunda, Sathayee and many more.
The valediction evening saw an Odissi dance ballet by the dance troupe of UDRA. They performed a dance based on the theme Sriradha. The second item of the evening was Odissi dance on Biswa Prakash by Aruna Mohanty. In the third performance, Guru Naba Mishra performed to the theme Nirvana.
This was followed by Guru Chapala Mishra’s dance performance based on Saberi Pallabi and Dinabandhu ehi ali srichhamure…. Odisha Sahitya Akademi president Satakadi Hota and UDRA president Batakrushna Tripathy were present at the ceremony
