CUJ bids adieu to Khathing

The employees and students of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) bid farewell to Professor (Prof) Darlando T Khathing, founding Vice Chancellor of the university. A meeting of teachers, research scholars, students and non-teaching employees of the CUJ was held at the auditorium of the CUJ on the occasion.

Prof Khathing completed his tenure of five years as V-C on February 28 and handed over charge to senior most professor of the CUJ Professor AN Mishra on March 1. During his speech at the meeting, Prof Khathing thanked every member of the university for his/her support and reiterated that whatever he could manage to achieve was because of their dedication and commitment.

The CUJ would continue to grow, he said adding nobody is indispensable. He appealed to all to work united for the cause of the CUJ.

Vice chancellor AN Mishra said, "I have learnt a lot from Professor Khathing" and hoped that Professor Khathing would continue to guide the university in the days to come too.

Registrar (in-charge) Prof RK Dey gave a brief summary of the illustrious career of the founding vice chancellor. Prof AK Sharma from Centre for English language gave

introduction speech.

Deans including Prof SK Tewari, Prof

A Dutta, Prof T Ghoshal, Prof SK Samdarshi, Prof A C Pandey, Prof Jeuti Baruah, Prof DK Banerjee, controller of exam Dr J N Nayak also spoke on the occasion.

Students of final year, who are first batch of the CUJ, established in 2009, expressed about their "pleasant and wonderful" experience with Prof Khathing.
