Charges of CM helping illegal miners baseless: Ambrish Kumar

Saturday, 21 November 2015 | PNS | Haridwar

The former MlA and the acting State Congress media cell chairperson Ambrish Kumar rubbished the charges levelled by the Opposition BJP that the Chief Minister Harish Rawat was conniving with the illegal miners who are damaging the River Ganga, saying that the charges were malicious and baseless. During his first Press conference in his new position on Friday, he said holy the Ganga enjoys a deified status in the thinking of the Chief Minister.

“Haridwar occupies a special position in his political career spanning  42 years, particularly because of its religious/spiritual association. The Opposition leaders should rather support him wholeheartedly in his tireless endeavour to protect the cows and the Ganga. The  Congress Government is committed to saving both with the CM leading it from the front. They must know that the CM  came to Gandikhata village on Thursday to inaugurate a cowshed made by an organisation Krishnayan,” he said.

Notably,  two senior BJP leaders Ajay Bhatt and Tirath Singh Rawat had alleged on Thursday that CM  Harish Rawat had been   patronising illegal mining.

Kumar further said that BJP had cast a spell on the people  during 2014 elections by resorting to vilification campaign against its opponents. “They are still acting according such a nefarious game plan. The people would surely reject them emphatically  during 2017 Assembly election for throwing suck on the Chief Minister. Harish Rawat would lead us during the upcoming husting and BJP would be left mangled,” he said

lauding the works of the State Government in matters of compensation to the sugarcane farmers, widow pension and jobs for the contractual workers, he said the State Government is determined for the welfare of the people.  He also referred to the CM’s move of giving `350 crore for Ardh Kumbh Mela works. “The BJP-led Centre has shown its back on the State on such a momentous matter,” the State Congress leader Ambrish Kumar said.
