Former MP Kamal Chaudhary joins BJP

After experimenting with all main political parties in Punjab, the “party hopper” Kamal Chaudhary, former MP, has once again joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. Chaudhary, who has been in and out of all major parties including the Congress, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and also the BJP, re-joined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of BJP general secretary Bhupendra Yadav.
 
He has represented Hoshiarpur constituency several times in the lok Sabha, and has been MP four times. He was elected to the lok Sabha from Hoshiarpur constituency in 1984, 1989, 1992 and 1998 on Congress ticket.BJP said that his joining the party would help its growth in the state. Chaudhry is the son of freedom fighter and three times MlA and once MP from Hoshiarpur Balbir Singh.
 
Just before polls in April 2014, Chaudhary had re-joined SAD and had campaigned for party’s candidate for Anandpur Sahib constituency PS Chandumajra.
A retired squadron leader, Chaudhary has resigned from BJP in 2001, after quitting the Congress before 1998 lok Sabha election to join the BJP. In 1999 elections, he contested from Hoshiarpur on a BJP ticket but lost.
 
later Chaudhry had left Congress in 2006 and joined SAD. Before joining politics, he was a fighter pilot and squadron leader in Indian Air Force. He remained chairman and member of many important committees of the Parliament.He also remained an elected Member of National Executive of Congress party in 1986-87 and elected National Secretary in 1990-92. Besides, he had been chairman of many educational and sports associations.
