Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal has congratulated all the Deputy Commissioners in  the State for  their sincere and dedicated efforts made for the success of “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” campaign which was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Panipat for the welfare of girl child in view of skewed female ratio in that has prevailed the State.

An official spokesman on Sunday said that the state has achieved remarkable improvement in sex ratio at birth in December 2015 and had crossed the 900 mark for the first time in last more than 10 years.

In his demi official letter addressed to all Deputy Commissioners, the Chief Minister has asked them to convey his facilitations to the officers who had done commendable work in this campaign.

He has further commented that the state which was known for female foeticide is being recognised as the saver of girl child.

The Chief Minister has desired similar commitment and dedication from the district administration in eradicating the menace of female foeticide from the State.

Notably, Haryana had recorded the lowest child sex ratio of 834 compared to the national average of 919 (according to census of India 2011).

“Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” (BBBP) campaign was launched from Haryana’s Panipat district by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January last year to address the issues related to girl child survival, health, nutrition, education and empowerment.

The State Government had in July last year appointed actress Parineeti Chopra as brand ambassador for the ‘BBBP’ programme to promote the cause of the girl child.
