The 11th cultural evening of the Toshali Craft Mela here kicked off on Sunday with ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ song sung by Bollywood singer Kavita Krishnamurty.

Braving the chilling wintery waves, the art lovers thronged at the Janata Maidan to listen Krishnamurty live. She came on time and chose Om Namah Shivaya as the first song of the evening, citing that Odisha is a pious land.

This was followed by some of her favorite numbers like Pyar Hua Chup Ke Se, Hawa Hawai, Har Karam Apana Karenge. In duet numbers like Aaj Main Upar Asman Niche and Bajta Hai Jal Tarang, Ollywood singer Bobby gave her a good support. The audience demand for an Odia song was honoured with Moro Mana Udi Jae Re of Suna Panjuri film.

The thunderous applause after each song proved it that how her lovers still have  a penchant for her songs, notwithstanding her absence in the today’s kind of films.

When asked why she is not being heard now-a-days, She replied that in present time much more importance is being given to technology. Presently a good voice and good lyrics are not being sought after, as used to be in her time.
