Balbir Dutt, Mukund Nayak bag Padma Shri

Veteran journalist Balbir Dutt and renowned folk artist who have brought much laurels to Jharkhand through his art performances at national and international stages have been selected for Padma Shri for 2017.

The luminaries would be given the prestigious award April from the President. Both Dutt and Nayak will receive the award for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields of art, music and education, literature (journalism) respectively.

CM Raghubar Das congratulating the awardees said that this is the proud moment for every one of us. Dutt through his writing has given a new dimension to the Hindi journalism and widen its sphere. Drinking water and Sanitation Minister Chandra Prakash Choudhary also congratulated both of them for the feet.

Sharing this success, Nayak asserted that this award would boost the temperament of the artistes in State. “I am feeling contended after receiving the award. The award will carve niche for the artists and will promote art and culture on a wider perspective,” added Nayak. Similarly, Dutt too expressed happiness and thanked the government for selecting him for the prestigious civilian award.
