Governor SC Jamir on Saturday appointed Professor Ishan Kumar Patro as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Ravenshaw University here. Patro will replace Prof Prakash Chandra Sarangi, whose term is over.
“Ravenshaw University has a glorious past. I am very fortunate that I have got a chance to take the oldest institute of the State a step ahead. I will try my level best to make it happen,” said Prof Patro.
When asked about the important areas he would focus after assuming charge, he said that “A new campus has to be built and different new works has to be carried out there. Appointment of new staff, introduction of new streams and placement of the students will be my priority.”
Patro is currently working as professor in School of Studies in Neuroscience, Zoology Department of Jiwaji University in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He has a long teaching experience of 29 years. As HOD, Prof Patro has administrative experience of 17 years.
