Minister hails 5th Krishi Karman award to State

Minister for Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Gourishankar Bisen has congratulated State leadership, farmers and agriculture team for Krishi Karman award honoured to Madhya Pradesh continuously since last five years.

He mentioned that the getting highest award of country in the field of agriculture is a result of tireless labor of farmers, constructive efforts of agriculture team and effective steps of the State Government taken in the interest of the farmers.

Bisen congratulated Commissioner Agriculture Production PC Meena, Principal Secretary Rajesh Rajora, Director Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Mohanlal, Director Agriculture Engineering Rajeev Chowdhary, MD Mandi Board Rakesh Shrivastava, MD Seeds and Farm Development Corporation Vinay Kumar Barman and MD Seeds Certification Agency KS Tekam. Bisen said that despite difficult situations, agriculture officers and employees are apprising farmers about the government schemes and modern techniques from state to village level.

Krishi Karman Award Conferred to MP continuously since last 5 Years

Madhya Pradesh has been conferred with Krishi Karman Award continuously since last five years. Krishi Karman Awards in the year 2011-12 and 2012-13 in food grains production category, 2013-14 in wheat production category, 2014-15 in food grains production category and for the year 2015-16 once again in wheat production category have been conferred to the state. In this way Madhya Pradesh has established itself a leading state in the country in wheat and other food grain crops besides pulses production. A remarkable increase has been registered in wheat production during the last 10 years. In comparison to 67 lakh 37 thousand metric tonne wheat production in the year 2007-08, 184 lakh metric tonne wheat production has been registered in the year 2015-16. A constant increase has been registered in wheat production and productivity in the state. Double wheat productivity has been registered in the state during last one decade.

Government’s Innovations to Double Farmers’ Income

Preparing a roadmap, Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country which has started implementing schemes to double the farmers’ income in the next 5 years. Krishi Mahotsav from April 14 to May 2 in the entire state is being organised and publicity of agriculture and horticulture crops production under the ‘Gramoday to Bharat Uday’ campaign beside other professions like poultry farming, milk production, fisheries etc. are being carried out through Kisan Raths in villages. Moreover, information on all the schemes related to rural development is being provided to the villagers. Prime Minister Agriculture Irrigation Scheme, Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, traditional agriculture development schemes, holistic farm development, soil health testing and other innovative schemes are being implemented in the state to double the farmers’ income.
