Movies in Raja race: Sister Sridevi, Abhay, Romeo Juliet

Odia films released during festivities like Raja guarantee full houses at theatres for at least three weeks despite the invasion of pirated VCDs and DVDs.

Most of the Odia films are released coinciding with the festive seasons. Usually Raja and Dussehra are the two festivals during which maximum number of films is released in the State. This year three new Odia films such as Sister Sridevi, Abhay and Romeo Juliet will be released during the Raja festival.

last year also three films hit the theatre during Raja such as Agystya, Prema Re Prema Re and love Station. All the three lead actors Anubhav, Babushan and Arindam are in the Raja race this year while Elina and Varshal are in the Raja race as leading actresses along with new comer Sibani who has enacted in a lead role in Sister Sridevi Tarang Cine Production’s Raja release will be Sister Sridevi starring Babushan Mohanty and Dubuntee Sibani in the lead. Produced by Jagi Mangat Panda, it is directed by Ashok Pati. Abhijeet Majumdar has composed the music, while Rituraj Mohanty,Tarik Aziz and Sanju have lent their voice. Ranjit Pattnaik has penned the dialogue. The story revolves around a stage artist who has performed different role in different drama which was being played by Babusan. Besides Babusan and Sibani, Choudhay Bikas Das, Mihir Das, Aparajita and Salil Mitra alsoare in the cast.

Another film of Tarang Cine Production, Abhay, featuring Elina and Anuvab in lead role is also in the Raja race. This film is being directed by K Murali Krishna. Story of Abhay is a story of common man enacted by Anubhav. Main protagonist of the movie Abhya is a son of a honest constable. like all middleclass unemployed youths, he discusses everything from education to politics but never dares to face any critical situation. Premananda has composed music and Santosh Naryan Das has penned the dialogue. Subrat Swain and Basantraj Samal have written the lyric while Human Sagar, Biswajeet and Deeptirekha have lent their voice. This film also stars Mihir Das, Monoj Mishra, Anita Das, Ashru Mochan Mohanty, Illu Banerjee, Sakati Baral and Prativa Panda.

The next film going to hit the theatre during Raja is Romeo Juliet. Arindam Roy and Barsha Priyadarshini will be seen together in this film. The film is being directed by Sudhakar Vasanth and produced by Ramesh Barik in the banner of MR Movies. After a long gap, Arindam Roy and Barsha Priyadarsini will be seen together. The star duo was seen together in hit films like Ae Mana Manena and Parshuram. Premanand has composed the music, while Mihir Das and Jeeban Panda are n important role for this film. The movie though has a name matching to English playwright Shakespeare’s play “Romeo Juliet”, Arindam said that the film would have no link to the original play.

“But it will be a love story and people would like it,” added the actor.
