MBA graduate joins ranks of Hizbul Mujahideen in Jammu & Kashmir

A management graduate hailing from landlocked Doda district of Jammu division has apparently joined the ranks of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist outfit in South Kashmir.

Identified as Haroon Abbas Wani, currently working with a Maharashtra-based Pharma company, went missing from his home during the last week. His family learnt about his whereabouts when his pictures, in combat fatigue holding an AK -47 rifle, surfaced on the social media. The social media posts claimed Haroon had joined the ranks of Hizbul Mujahideen on September 1, 2018.

The revelation, which is yet to be confirmed by the state police authorities, has also shocked his family in Doda.

His parents and brothers in Doda Monday made passionate appeals to him to return home soon when local media persons visited their home. 

One of his close relatives agreed to speak to media after lot of persuasion. She claimed his mother and father are in a state of shock after listening to the reports of their son joining the ranks of a terrorist outfit. Senior army and police authorities in Doda also visited his home and interacted with his family members to collect relevant details about him.

Preliminary investigations so far have revealed that after completing his management degree Haroon had joined a Pharma company and was posted in Jammu. The family had no clue how he came in touch with the handlers of terrorist outfit and how they managed to coerce him to join their ranks after leaving lucrative career. According to official sources, the total strength of local terrorists active in Kashmir valley have  now crossed  200 mark. At present more than 300 terrorists are active in Kashmir valley,official sources claimed adding 211 are locals and 116 are foreign nationals. local militants are active in South Kashmir districts while majority of foreign nationals are active in North Kashmir districts. Out of the three terrorist outfits active in kashmir valley lashkar-e- Toiba has maximum number of active terrorists followed by Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e- Mohammad.
