TRS leaders joins BJP in Telengana

Saturday, 30 June 2018 | Omer Farooq | Hyderabad

Even as the State wide “Jana Chaitanya Yatra” of Telangana BJP president K lakshman entered Medak and Siddipet districts, the home turf of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the saffron party received a shot in the arm with a key functionary of ruling TRS joining its ranks.

Chairperson of Bongir Municipal Corporation S lavanya and her husband along with their supporters joined the BJP in the presence of K lakshman. Two members of the Municipal Council also joined the BJP. lavanya was elected as the Chairperson with the support of the BJP and the TDP but later she joined the TRS.

lavanya who was facing threat to her position from with in the TRS as well as the councilors of the other parties said that she decided to return to the BJP for the sake of self respect. “I was not given respect even as a woman”, she said.

Interestingly in his public meetings as part of the Jana Chaitanya Yatra lakshman has also raised the emotional issues including the Ram temple in Ayodhya and said that the BJP was committed to the same.

This was being seen as an attempt by the BJP to recover its lost ground in Telangana to the ruling TRS over the last one decade.

Targeting the TRS Government lakshman said that while the Modi Government at the Centre was extending fully support to  various development and welfare programs, the  state Government had failed to implement those schemes.
