West district police have arrested a 42-year-old woman for allegedly trafficking minor girls into the Capital from Jharkhand, and placing them as domestic helps at various households.  The accused identified as Prabha Muni Minz, allegedly ran an NGO that lured girls on the pretext of getting them jobs as housemaids in Delhi and later sold them off. It has been learnt that she used to entice unsuspecting girls into her net by befriending them on social networking sites.

“There was reward of Rs 25,000 declared on her arrest and she was also declared proclaimed offender by Jharkhand police. We got a tip-off about the woman following which she was arrested in Punjabi Bagh in west district. Her husband is absconding, but Minz has been sent to judicial custody and will be handed over to the Jharkhand police,” said Monika Bhardawaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West district.

“During interrogation she disclosed that she is a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh and had come to Delhi about 20 years ago where she met Rohit Muni who hails from Bihar and was running a placement agency in Shakarpur.

She joined him as an agent in the business of supplying full time maids from Jharkhand to Delhi  and its adjoining areas and She married him . They used to go to backward areas of Jharkhand and lure girls for good food, money and job and bring them to Delhi and earn good commission,” said the DCP.

“She has trafficked girls between the ages of 13-14 years. In order to hide her misdeeds she along with her husband started operating an NGO which allegedly works for the welfare of destitute girls. In 2013, they lured one minor girl from a local village in district Simdega, Jharkhand on the pretext of good job and supplied her to one placement agency.

The family was not able to contact their daughter following which they had filed FIR with Jharkhand Police against the accused. During the course of investigation the girl with other victims were rescued by Jharkhand Police.

However, the accused absconded to evade arrest and hide themselves in different areas of Delhi,” said the DCP.
